The Director of Finance reports to the Superintendent, functions as a member of the Cabinet, and directly oversees the finance department and related personnel. The Director of Finance interfaces with the Board of Trustees and/or Board Treasurer at key times regarding budgetary or financial topics in conjunction with the Superintendent. The Director of Finance supports all school personnel with budgetary responsibilities and serves as a leader in the stewardship and management of revenue and expenses. The Director of Finance centers on living out the mission with a grounded, strength of character, maintaining a positive culture of collaboration and productivity, and promoting a vibrant, Christ-centered, and unified workplace.
Key Responsibilities: -Guides financial decisions through establishing, monitoring, and implementing accounting procedures -Prepares and updates the Annual Budget for the operation of the school -Establishes and monitors financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems -Oversees indexed tuition applications, awards, and other monthly revenue, billing, and collection -Ensures proper payroll functions for all employees, including twice monthly payroll reviews -Engages in effective conversations with all school personnel, Board members, and community members -Collaborates with the Director of Philanthropy for accounting support of fundraisers (i.e. annual golf tournament and auction) -Partners with the Director of Human Resources in managing the employee fully loaded benefits package, including healthcare, emergency employee fund, and professional development funding -Invests spiritually and professionally in direct reports -Assists with Central Office support as needed -Tracks and communicates family account concerns with the Superintendent -Provides monthly financial reports to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees -Protects and maximizes return on SCS assets -Owns the process of the annual external audit of financial records with an independent accounting firm, including preparation of appropriate audit schedules -Processes L&I Claims, staying current on accounting rules and tax laws along with making recommended adjustments for compliance -Serves as the primary school contact for liability insurance vendor and practices -Develops strategies and assists with management of endowment funds and banking relationships -Prepares and files federal, state, and county filings
Essential Physical Functions/Demands: -Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time, sit, kneel, bend and move around the classroom and building throughout the day -Must have the ability to lift approximately 10 lbs. and occasional moving of equipment and/or materials -Must have the ability to see and read a computer screen and printed materials, and hear and understand speech at a normal level -Must be able to monitor student safety along with implementing emergency procedures -Must be able to speak, write and communicate proficiently in the English language -Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions
