Job Description:
Director of Music Ministry - Williamsburg United Methodist, a congregation of 2200, seeks a full-time Director of Music Ministry to lead a dynamic program of music activities. The Director will supervise a three-quarter-time Assoc. Director of Music Ministry/Organist, a one third-time Assoc. Director (children's music), and several volunteers in a program of fully graded (K-adult) vocal and bell choirs as well as a church orchestra. The Director personally conducts the adult choir, three bell choirs (one each for adults, children, and college students), and the orchestra. An undergraduate degree in music and a record of successful conducting and leadership experience are required. A master's degree in music is preferred. The successful candidate must be comfortable with a variety of musical genres, relate well to a variety of ages, have a record of working successfully in a team setting, possess the ability to continue and grow the music program, and see music in the life of the church as an act of worship. His arranging has appeared on recordings side by side with greats like Gene Puerling and David Maddux, and he has sung with Don Shelton, Bonnie Herman and Bob Bowker, among others.
