Why is there not also a Men in Worship forum?
This seems a bit weird to me to single out women from worshippers as a whole. Maybe a little beefing up of the welcome post in this forum might help explain why women need their own separate worship forum? _________________ Please visit our forum for worship arts ministers and supporters.

| Hello, and blessings to you. As a woman who leads a Christian rock band for the youth and has been recently called to lead the worship ministry in our church, the sensitive issue of whether this falls well within the moral order of things has come to my conscience. Both my husband and pastor agree that I am not in a position that displeases God, so I'm glad about that, but I admittedly DO make a conscious effort to connect with other women in similar, and similarly rare, positions. For that, I am grateful that a forum would give us a unique category. I hope this helps answer your question. |

Thanks for your response, jojosaint. Ministry leadership is a challenge and really impossible to do successfully without the support of spouse and pastor. For either men or women. It is wonderful that you have those things.
What you are alluding to in your post has to do with the issue of spiritual covering....something both men and women must sort out. Although there are some specific issues women may deal with because of their gender, the same is true of men, and thus my question.
I do find it interesting that this is the first response to this topic in over 5 months. _________________ Please visit our forum for worship arts ministers and supporters.

Haha, yes I thought so, too. I just registered onto this forum today hoping to find an active community of worshipers where I could exchange some wisdom, but it seems tragically quite here. Are you aware of any other forums for worship leaders?
Also, thank you for your feedback on my post. An extra element to add to the "weirdness" (for lack of a better word) is that my pastor is stepping down from the position of worship leader to give me this position. He is assuming a place of subordination to me (within reason and limitations, of course) so it's something I imagine I'll be having an inner battle over in the process. He did happen to say that he would address the issue to the congregation and explain why, Biblically, he feels it is not an "issue" at all. |

I think your pastor is wise. A lot of the resentments and things that might come up in people will be addressed through his proactive support and preparation.
There does seem to be a dearth of places for worship leaders to connect. That is why we have started our messageboard ZionFireFriends.com. We have a section specifically for music leaders. You can get there by clicking the WWW button under my post. Love to have another voice added to the discussions there. (Apparently, I should beef up my signature as you did not notice it.)
There is also some discussion of that sort on Christian Forums, but even in a huge place like that, there is not a lot of activity in the worship sections. _________________ Please visit our forum for worship arts ministers and supporters.

To answer your question, I would say this has it's own forum because it is a source of controversy for women to be in authorative positions over men. It is biblical that this is "out of order" and some feel worship leaders are a position of teaching and authority in the church. The Bible prohibits this.
I am not making a statement of whether or not the worship leader is or is not a position of teaching or authority. If it IS a position of teachig and authority in YOUR church, you are out of order... however, Im simply saying, it is a hot button topic and that is probablly why this forum exists. |
